it’s no secret that we love books here at 11stories. my love affair with books started as a child, but it wasn’t until i started designing books myself that i really started to appreciate the relationship between the words, the type, and the book layout and imagery. it’s all too rare when i come across a book whose design is just as central to the telling of the story as the words.
i recently bought artist yayoi kusama’s edition of alice in wonderland to share with my daughter, and i am so inspired by the artwork of the book. kusama uses bright, bold colors and plays with font and graphics in a way that make perfect sense for such a dynamic and imaginative story. i’m starting design on my next wedding book next week, and there’s sure to be some pops of color!
