this morning, the tables were turned, and i had a rare opportunity to be interviewed about my relationship and my love story. my husband and i were interviewed for a wonderful series on Snippet & Ink called “Snapshot of a Marriage,” which shares married couple’s “secrets for a strong and successful marriage.”
obviously i’m a big fan of interviews with couples about their life and love. i especially love interviewing couples at various stages of their relationship. newlyweds bring a refreshing optimism to their interview, a genuine belief in each other and the power of their love to get them through the good times and the bad. older couples bring the wisdom and appreciation for each other that comes from years of experience, from sticking together through those good and bad times. adam and i fall somewhere in the middle – married 15 years, we are no longer newlyweds, but we don’t have all the answers either.
so what was it like to be the one answering the questions instead of asking? FUN! i often have clients tell me that their 11stories interview gives them a unique insight and renewed appreciation of their partner. i now see what they mean. it was such a treat to listen to adam talk about his memory of how we met (yes, we have different stories!), his experience of planning our wedding (he encourages all those grooms to get involved), and the lessons he’s learned over the years (give each other space for the little things, but work together for the big stuff).
it truly did remind us why we fell in love and what has sustained us through the years. and best of all, it made us laugh. a lot!
