this valentine’s day was quite special. after finishing a feature Couple Story and making sure the last of the 11stories Valentine’s gift certificates were sent out to our lovebird clients, i boarded a plane for paris.
paris is by far and away my favorite place. i had the good fortune of living there for some time as a child and a young adult, but now with work and starting a family, it had been nearly a decade since i had been back. i thought perhaps we were crazy to visit paris in the dead of winter, but paris in february did not disappoint. we rode the holiday ferris wheel at Place de la Concorde, slurped steaming cups of thick hot chocolate from angelina’s and un dimanche a paris, and on our last day, woke up to snow falling outside our apartment window.
perhaps my favorite part of the trip was seeing paris in full celebration of love – not a commercialized holiday, but simply bold, proud declarations of love.
we stayed in the 9th arr., not far from the le mur des je t’aime.

we walked passed the pont des arts on our way to the louvre, now covered in padlocks placed by couples declaring their love.

and the lovely colette had covered their back wall with bold statements of love, graffiti-style.

but best of all was just exploring paris with my favorite valentines, sharing the city i love with my husband and daughter.
