i spent last week at blogshop/san francisco, immersed in a two day intensive class on photoshop. blogshop is led by two fabulous women, bri and angela, and supported by a team of talented interns. i was one of approximately 25 students, all creatives wanting to learn more about photoshop to enhance their work.
our “classroom” was a beautiful loft space in dogpatch, filled with stunning natural light. each table was decorated with funky, unique flowers, and we enjoyed mimosas to get us started in the morning and delicious food to fuel our learning.
is it really possible to learn such a complex program in two days? heck yeah, with angela and bri as your teachers!
did i learn tools and tricks that i can apply to my work in print design? definitely! my clients give me their treasured photos to include in their books, and now i can help to fix an old photo, adjust colors as necessary, and incorporate the pictures more seamlessly into the overall design of the book.
did i leave the class inspired by the creative possibilities of photoshop? absolutely! blogshop goes beyond just a typical class on photoshop. it is led by creatives, for creatives. angela and bri would present the basic skills and then allow time after each exercise for us to apply those skills to our images, to see how the program applies within each of our own creative contexts.
of course now i’ve been glued to my computer ever since our class ended – experimenting with new techniques, continuing to learn new tricks, making mistakes along the way – ultimately enjoying new creative possibilities.
